Pathology Collection provides pathology collection services for outpatients and some inpatients at RCH, RWH, Frances Perry House and Suite 2, Level 6, Private Consulting Rooms, Royal Womens Hospital, 20 Flemington Road, Parkville 3052.

Pathology Collection service is also available for patients external to RCH – referred from local GP or Specialist. Patients are seen in order of arrival at RCH and there may be extended waits at times for our specialist collection service.

Patients referred from GP or their external Specialist are responsible for their pathology accounts.  Patients are generally bulk billed but there may be a charge for any items not covered by the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).  The patient will then receive an account for these tests.  Information regarding these test is available upon request at the collection centre RCH.

The Royal Children's Hospital

Pathology Collection provides a collection service to patients attending clinic appointments at RCH.  Pathology collectors also provide an inpatient service with rounds daily Monday to Saturday (requests via pager 6398). 

Pathology Collection Service performs sweat tests (cystic fibrosis) and breath hydrogen testing - appointments must be arranged prior to arrival in Pathology Collection.  

Appointments are generally not required for patients attending Pathology Collection (except for sweat tests and breath hydrogen testing).
